Click HERE to read "Purpose: The Foundation for High-Quality Teaching" from the National Association of Secondary School Principals.  In this article, Nancy Frey lays out a rationale for looking at a lesson's "big picture" (also know as PURPOSE) in order to effectively plan and execute instruction.

  1. I enjoyed reading this article and watching the video. I feel that many teachers know in their mind what it is what their students to know in terms of content, but sometimes find it difficult to portray it on paper (lesson plans) and in their delivery. Hopefully, this article will give them a clearer and new insight as to what is expected when teaching content matter. Even though I've bee around the block a few times in my role as teacher, the article got me to thinking about how I can change how I verbally deliver my lesson to students and writing lesson plans. Great article!
